Donation Refund Policy

United Care Initiative (EIN: 41-3276457) is committed to transparency and donor satisfaction. We understand that circumstances may arise where a donor needs to request a refund. This policy outlines our procedures for handling refund requests.

General Policy

All donations made to United Care Initiative are generally considered final and non-refundable, as they are immediately allocated to support our programs and services. However, we will consider refund requests made under the following circumstances:

  • Duplicate charges: If your payment method was charged multiple times for the same donation
  • Incorrect amount: If you were charged an amount different from what you intended to donate
  • Unauthorized transaction: If a donation was made without your authorization
  • Technical errors: If a technical issue resulted in an unintended charge

Refund Request Timeframe

Refund requests must be submitted within 30 days of the original donation date. Requests made after 30 days will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may not be approved.

How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, please contact us with the following information:

  • Your full name
  • Email address used for the donation
  • Date of the donation
  • Amount of the donation
  • Reason for the refund request
  • Any relevant documentation (such as bank statements showing duplicate charges)

Refund Processing

Once we receive your refund request, we will:

  1. Acknowledge receipt of your request within 2 business days
  2. Review your request and any supporting documentation
  3. Notify you of our decision within 5-7 business days
  4. If approved, process the refund within 10 business days

Approved refunds will be returned to the original payment method used for the donation. Depending on your financial institution, it may take an additional 5-10 business days for the refund to appear in your account.

Recurring Donations

If you have set up a recurring (monthly) donation and wish to cancel, please contact us at least 5 business days before your next scheduled payment date. We can cancel future payments, but processed payments are subject to this refund policy.

To cancel a recurring donation, email donations@unitedcareinitiative.com with your name, email address, and donation amount.

Tax Implications

If you received a tax receipt for a donation that is subsequently refunded, you will need to adjust your tax records accordingly. We will send you an updated receipt reflecting the refund. Please consult with your tax advisor regarding the implications for your tax return.

Alternative to Refunds

Instead of a refund, you may choose to:

  • Designate your donation to a specific program within United Care Initiative
  • Transfer your donation credit to a future fundraising event
  • Convert your donation to an in-kind contribution recognition
